Diwali is a light festival, very important for Hindus, maybe the most important out of all. The word 'Diwali' means rows of lighted lamps.They worship the Lord Ganesha for good welfare and prosperity and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and wisdom.
Every year Diwali is celebrated in different days, depending on the hindu calendar. So, if to make an analogue, today is Christian New Years Eve and tomorrow will be actual New Year.
Since half of my family is hindu, we are also celebrating with joy and worshiping Lord Ganesha for all the goods of the past year!
